Unprecedented security

In a sector such as agriculture, where machines are increasingly powerful and operations are complex, ensuring the safety for operators and any third parties on the ground is an absolute priority. Hyper Safety View is McCormick’s solution.

Imagine sitting behind the wheel of a tractor, knowing that every manoeuvre, every movement, every command can pose potential risks, not only to the driver, but also to those near the tractor itself or the machine connected to it. This is precisely where the new Hyper Safety View system comes into play, bringing an unprecedented level of safety thanks to the use of the latest technologies derived from the automotive world. It is not just a matter of active protection, but also of facilitating and improving the operator’s work, making it more efficient, more comfortable and, above all, safer.

A 360° view to avoid risks

In a work environment where operations are often carried out in confined spaces and in constant motion, visibility is a critical safety aspect. Despite being a powerful and indispensable vehicle for agricultural operations, tractors have structural limitations that make it difficult for the operator sitting in the driver’s seat to have a complete view of the surrounding area. The presence of the operator’s cab pillars and rollover safety structures, rear wheel mudguards and instruments located on either side of the driver’s seat often obstruct visibility of the areas immediately adjacent to the tractor, putting third parties at risk.

Hyper Safety View responds to this very important need, by transforming and enhancing the way in which the operator perceives the environment around the tractor.

The system, designed to improve safety during manoeuvres, uses artificial intelligence and computer vision to detect the presence of people and obstacles, activating visual and audible warnings directly inside the driver’s cab to alert the driver and prevent collisions.

Thanks to a robust hardware architecture and four RGB WDR cameras strategically positioned on the tractor, Hyper Safety View offers a 360-degree view that completely covers the area surrounding the tractor. Three cameras are mounted on the cab roof, while one is located at the front of the engine hood, providing a complete overview, even in areas that are difficult to see directly.

This integrated view not only makes the operator more aware of his surroundings, but also allows them to make more informed and safer choices during all phases of tractor use, reducing the risk of accidents and improving the overall efficiency of agricultural operations.

Furthermore, Hyper Safety View does not simply provide a view of the vehicle’s surroundings, but integrates a series of intelligent technologies to actively and continuously monitor the surrounding area. The system is able to detect the presence of people and obstacles through a virtual radar that shows the distance and exact position of any pedestrians. People are identified using an artificial intelligence algorithm, which eliminates false positives, ensuring accurate and timely alerts.

Danger areas are then visually highlighted on the display, using indicators and colours that help the operator to understand the situation immediately. This automatic surveillance system, based on image recognition, represents an important innovation in tractor safety, as it not only prevents collisions, but also allows faster and more informed decisions throughout all phases of work.

Continuous integration and updates

The computing power of the Hyper Safety View system makes it one of the most advanced systems available on the market today. This level of sophistication not only guarantees high performance, but also makes the system highly adaptable. Thanks to the “Over The Air” (OTA), update function, the system can collect operational data in real time, analyze it, and use it to continuously improve detection algorithms. This means that, without the need for physical intervention on the tractor, the system is able to evolve, adapting to the specific operational needs of each customer and always ensuring maximum efficiency over time.

Furthermore, the use of OTA updates allows new features to be implemented, keeping the system up to date with technological innovations and improvements in machine performance. The ability to update the system without interrupting daily operations is a substantial advantage, especially in a sector such as agriculture, where machine downtime must be minimized.

Augmented reality visualization

One of the most fascinating aspects of Hyper Safety View is the use of Augmented Reality (AR), which enriches the operator’s experience with real-time visual information that is perfectly integrated with the real world around them. When the operator selects the Hyper Safety View function on the cab’s DSM (Data Screen Manager) monitor, a menu appears with five main options to choose from: Polar View, Surround, AR (Augmented Reality), Cameras, and ADAS.

Each function is designed to meet specific needs during daily operations, from obstacle detection to assistance in connecting tools correctly and quickly.

The Augmented Reality function projects the tractor’s planned trajectory into a panoramic view, improving manoeuvring precision. By merging images from the cameras, the operator can visualize the entire area around the tractor in real time, identifying obstacles and people, even in poor visibility conditions or situations where natural visibility is limited by external factors such as dust or adverse weather conditions.

This feature not only improves safety, but also allows the operator to manoeuvre with greater precision and greater peace of mind, knowing that the system is assisting them in real time by providing timely warnings in dangerous situations.

Easy tool connection

Another key feature of the Hyper Safety View device is to assist the operator in correctly connecting agricultural implements. When connecting and disconnecting implements, especially in confined spaces or in conditions of limited visibility, operators often experiences difficulties. With Hyper Safety View, the entire process becomes much simpler and safer. Thanks to the use of light markers and camera assistance, the operator can connect the implements directly from the cab without having to get out of the tractor, minimising the risk of errors.

In addition, the system uses markers from the “April Tag”, family, optimised for detecting different sizes, positions and compositions of objects, further improving detection accuracy and increasing the efficiency of attaching and detaching mounted and towed implements. The use of Augmented Reality to superimpose the trajectory of the tractor on that of the implements makes the operation even more precise, helping to reduce manoeuvring times, the possibility of error and damage, and increasing overall safety.

A step forward towards the future

The safety of the driver and those working around the tractor has always been a priority for McCormick, and with Hyper Safety View, the brand is taking an important step forward. Integrated with the tractor’s control systems and designed to evolve as technology advances, this system represents a true innovation in the way agricultural machinery interacts with its surroundings.

The combination of artificial intelligence, augmented reality and the ability to update itself autonomously makes Hyper Safety View an extremely advanced and flexible system. This not only improves safety during agricultural operations, but also makes farmers’ work more efficient and less stressful, freeing them from many of the daily concerns related to the safety of the working environment in which the tractor operates.

In a future vision, with the continuous development of technologies and integration with other smart solutions, Hyper Safety View represents a concrete evolution, in which technology is not only a support, but a fundamental ally in ensuring safer, more sustainable and innovative work.
