X Generation

McCormick continues to bring new technology in next generation of 200 HP tractors.

After the X50 series rollout, Sima was the venue where lots of other innovations are revealed; first and foremost McCormick’s “New X generation”, a result of the brand’s commitment and desire to innovate. Argo Tractors used the French show to premier their new X7 Series, a range offering high added value in this prestigious and growing 200hp segment. The new range comprises six models: three with 4-cylinder structural engines and three with 6-cylinder engines situated within a frame, these Beta Power – Fuel Efficient Tier 4interim, Common Rail engines with Ratings from 143 to 212 HP, PowerPlus and 40 km/h at reduced engine Speed in both 4 and 6 cylinders models. Other features of the X7 range include the 24 speed Pro Drive transmission with 4 Powershifts and 6 robotised ranges for effortless operation. Autoshifting of the 4 powershifts in all 6 ranges and sequential range shifting makes for easy driving. A Load Sensing closed-circuit hydraulic system with 123 l/min flow rate ensures fast operation of all hydraulic functions and the electronically controlled rear linkage offers 9,300 kg lift capacity on all units. The 4-speed electro-hyd rear PTO is standard which offers additional fuel economy. A 3.5 ton front hitch option with PTO can also be specified with switches located at the front to raise or lower the hitch when coupling implements. What truly sets this tractor apart is the new “Premiere Cab” that raises the quality standards of the new X7 Series, through careful design and listening to operators this control centre will make life for the operator easier and less tiring during those long hours in the seat.

A new cab

Collaboration between Argo Tractors and a well respected Italian Design Studio has led to the creation of this new cab, and in particular the comfort levels and ergonomics are close to that provided by the automotive and truck industry. With 4 pillars and the spacious interior, the cab offers excellent visibility easy access and all round ventilation. The new-style doors have re-enforced hinges and a closing mechanism proven within the automotive world, this pattern is repeated inside the cab, where materials reminiscent of automobile interiors make everything cosy, LED light fittings improve the lighting efficiency, durability and enhance the overall appearance. The controls are arranged in a logical layout, while other characteristics include the tilt and telescopic steering wheel,  new integrated instrument panel, multifunction armrest with, among other functions, a programmable and patented switch (“my switch”) that allows the operator to command several functions. Steering column controls for lights, wiper and self-cancelling turn-indicators fall easy to hand. External electrically adjusted & heated rear-view mirrors are also available. The new patented system for the retracting the passenger seat (“Hide Away”), also makes it easier to get in and out of the tractor and keeps the seat clean when folded away. Other neat features include a super deluxe seat with a ventilated and heated backrest, air conditioned glove compartment to keep drinks cool and a sound system with USB plug, Bluetooth and balanced speakers.

The McCormick X50

The McCormick X50, successor of the TMax series, was also on display in Paris, the range comprises of 4 models, X50.20, X50.30, X50.40, X50.50, from 85 to 113HP. There are two transmission versions, an “RPS” which incorporates 3 speed powershift and hydraulic reverse shuttle. The second option is a “SYNCHRO”, featuring a transmission with mechanical synchro reverse shuttle.  Both versions have electro-hydraulic PTO which may be specified with 3 speed to maximise efficiency. As well sporting new engines, the range has been restyled by introducing a new bonnet design that paves the way for the innovative family feeling to be featured on all future McCormick products. Subtle changes have also been made inside the cab including a new interior trim and colour scheme and controls repositioned for easier operation and comfort. The powershuttle models except the 50.50 also feature Power Plus this delivers additional power to the PTO and keeps the tractor moving under heavy loads.  This function also works in the road transport gears and makes for fewer gear shifts on hilly terrain. At the rear the linkage has ample lift for this class of tractor and is controlled by electronics for precise operation.
